Günter-o-Lantern

Everyone's favorite Halloween tradition is, of course, carving the jack-o-lantern.  .^_^

Step one - picking out just the right pumpkin.

Günter:  "How's this one?"

Me:  "Hm... it's good, but lets see if we can't find one a bit smaller...  'cause I'm poor.."

Günter:  "This one?"

Me:  "It's lumpy on one side...."

Günter:  "??"

Me:  "Dirty.."

Günter:  "......"  ::sigh::

Günter:  ::takes a break::

Günter:  "These are my size..."

Me:  "You can't carve those..."  .^^;

Günter:  "I like this one."

Me:  "It's dirty.."

Günter:  "Wash it."

Me:  .>_>   "Okies.."

Günter:  "It's kind of cute..."

Me:  "Did you just say it was cute!?"  X3  X3

Günter:  "No."

Well, we had our cute pumpkin.  .^,^

Step two - carving

Günter:  "The first thing we must do when starting the carving process is to lay down some old newspaper.  This will make cleaning up much easier."

Günter:  "And wash the pumpkin, so it's nice and clean."

Günter:  "Let us begin."  *eye gleam*

Günter:  "The top is cut open to access the inside, which we will clean out."

Günter:  "Then the cut-out part is removed.  I use a spoon for leverage to lift it up, so I can get a better hold of it."

Günter:  "See?  This is what's inside.  We must clean this out."

Günter:  "We'll just cut that part right off the top piece."

Günter:  "This is what we take out."

Me:  "Which I'll do."

Günter:  "......."

Me:  "Liebe, you'd have to get inside the pumpkin to clean it out, and I don't feel like having you get all slimy."

Günter:  ".......  Fine."

Günter:  "Well.  This is what was taken out of the pumpkin."

Me:  "It's gross and slimy!"  .x_x

Günter:  "....Yes.  Some people actually eat this stuff."

Me:  "........"

Günter:  "Now comes the actual carving of the face.  I drew what I wanted on with a marker first, so I knew basically what it'd look like, and where to cut."

Me:  "Listen to the man - he's a professional."  .^-^

Günter:  ::eyeroll::

Günter:  "Then a candle will go inside.  This one smells like jasmine."

Me:  "I don't think you're supposed to use scented candles."  .^^;

Günter:  "It's all we had.."

Günter:  "Just put that right in there."

Tada!

And with the lights off~

Günter:  "And there you have it.  Have a happy-"

Me:  *snicker*

Günter:  "....  Have a happy-"

Me:  ::mad laughter::  XD  XD

Günter:  "............  What?"

Me:  "That is so LAME!"  XD  XD

Günter:  "My artistic abilities are not up for discussion."  *ahem*  "Have a happy Halloween."
